A management system aimed at "Building Quality Business"

The Six Sigma philosophy is a system of management that allows businesses to improve. A business has a historical continuum that has to be followed over time. With the Six Sigma concept this continuum needs to be disrupted and all those involved need to realize breakthrough and achieve higher levels of performance.

The intervention requires knowledge, it is a fact that we cannot do what we do not know so in order to intervene we need to acquire the "know how", come in at a specific time with that "know how" (allowing power thinking) and force a change to the slope of the continuum from where it is headed to where it ought to go in the future.

This image below of the apple tree best illustrates the approach of Six Sigma.

4 levels of fruit...

GROUND FRUIT

Fruit that has fallen off the tree and is still good. This fruit does not take a lot of effort to harvest. Basically just experience to differentiate between what is good and what is bad.

LOW HANGING FRUIT

This fruit takes a little more effort to harvest, although little experience is required, the main tactic is to use basics.

SWEET FRUIT

This is the middle of the tree, that is very rewarding, but it requires better techniques and more effort to harvest.

PRIME "SUN-RIPEN" FRUIT

On the top of the tree, exposed to sunlight is the best fruit. This requires a lot more effort and more than often technology to harvest.

Six Sigma is a metric, a benchmark, a vision, a business philosophy, an improvement tool, a symbol and a value.
